Maleah Bainer is in her first semester here at University of North Carolina Wilmington. Maleah plans on getting her bachelors degree in Biology which will then help her move on to radiology school to then pursue her doctorates degree as well. Maleah also plans on getting a minor in business to then have a back up plan to fall back on as well as help on resumes for any future jobs. She has a big interest in real estate but major focus is on becoming a radiologist. Maleah became fascinated with radiology and healthcare by her involvement in sports and seeing while also experiencing injuries as well. Maleah has always had a love for helping people and the human body so she thought it would be perfect to mix that together and find a job interest just for that! While being said becoming a radiologist while having a doctorate and majoring in biology is a huge task to fill and isn’t the easiest. Maleah has a very hard work ethic and huge goals that she extremely wants to achieve in her lifetime so with that being said she will get the job done. Outside of her goal of becoming a radiologist, Maleah played division 1 soccer at Kennesaw State university before coming to UNCW so soccer has been a major important part of her life. She also enjoys spending time at the beach with friends. 

Chloe Baker is a junior at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She is working on her Bachelor’s of Arts and Sciences in Psychology with a minor in History. She plans on attending graduate school to concentrate on drug rehabilitation with adolescents and young adults and plans on working for a rehabilitation facility or for a therapy practice. Chloe chose to study psychology and history as a means of exploring her interests in these subjects.

Sydney Benoliel is a freshman at UNCW. She is planning to major in Psychology and become an adolescent therapist in the future. She wants to help younger kids and teens with their mental illness and help them cope and recover. Sydney is also planning to minor in the Assistance Dog Training program and be able to train therapy dogs to assist in her therapy practice.

Nicholas Buczkowski, a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, is attending the college in hopes of acquiring a business degree. This will give him the tools he needs to become an entrepreneur and eventually own his own business(es). All his life, Nicholas has been an innovative person, always coming up with business ideas or innovation ideas. One of his dreams is to open up a Grocery Store tailored to special meats, spices, and all grilling needs. With his great work ethic and excitement for the field, Nick will do great. 

Kyle Budd is in his first year at UNCW. His major is Business Marketing and he is looking to pursue a minor in Spanish. In high school Kyle was in charge of the class t-shirt and had a ton of success selling the t-shirts by how he marketed them. It was then that he realized that he wanted to pursue a career in the marketing world.

Alyssa Comfort is a freshman attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Although she has yet to declare a major, she is interested in doing something geared towards math and science, as well as helping people. She has always loved solving problems and doing things that just make sense. Volunteering at summer camps and doing home repair with her youth group for those in need were activities she enjoyed during her high school years, helping her to realize the importance of hard work, love, and helping others. In her free time she enjoys playing tennis, baking, going on road trips, and hanging out with friends.

Ellery Ekblad is finishing up her first year at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she is interested in Film Production. Early on, she traveled to multiple countries learning of different cultures, travelled to production companies such as Screen Gems and wrote short stories published to Kindle Direct publishing. Because of these experiences, she learned she would want to focus on Screenwriting. In the future she hopes to write fictional scripts based on what she learned in her travels. Ellery spends her free-time playing on the UNCW lacrosse team and going on road trips with her friends.

Haleigh Elkins is finishing up her first year at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she is planning on majoring in exercise science with a concentration in allied health. Haleigh has played softball from a young age and watched her teammates get injured time and time again. From this young age she decided she wanted to help athletes rehabilitate after their injuries. Haleigh hopes to pursue a career in the physical therapy field, hopefully focusing on athletes. In her free time she enjoys working out, hanging out with friends and going on drives.

Hailey Futrell is a second-year student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where she is dual-majoring in Environmental Science and Civil Engineering. With an interest in surveying, Hailey ran for Student Representative for the Coastal Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In this role, Hailey connects with her peers and other students in the surrounding area to inspire them to take an interest in earth sciences and engineering. In addition to her role as Student Representative, Hailey also works as a Resident Assistant. This role has helped her develop communication and time management skills. In her free time, Hailey enjoys hiking, reading American Literature, and collecting antiques.

Ryan Gadwah is a second-semester freshman at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, majoring in Exercise Science. He spent his past summers lifeguarding and working out during the offseason of sports. As a result, he loves to exercise, eat well, and spend time outdoors. He hopes to put his time into helping others live healthier lifestyles in the future. 

Ethan Hale is a sophomore attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington, interested in majoring in exercise science. After having to go to physical therapy after having surgery, he began to develop an interest in the field. He understands the importance of physical therapy and can see the positive impacts that it has on people’s recovery. Ethan aspires to open his own physical therapy practice. During his free time, Ethan enjoys working out, playing soccer, and cooking.

Ella King is a sophomore at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has yet to declare her major but is hoping to major in business with a concentration in marketing and a minor in Spanish. After watching her family run a business from the time she was born, she knew she was meant to help other businesses flourish just as she had her family’s. In high school, she participated in D.E.C.A (Distributive Education Clubs of America) where she learned that she has the potential to be successful in a business world environment. Through these experiences she learned valuable lessons about herself such as being a hard worker, being innovative, and helpful.

Caitlin Monaghan is a Freshman at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Although she has not yet declared a major, she is considering majoring in Psychology. Caitlin developed an interest in Psychology, particularly Social Psychology, after taking a class on the subject in Middle School and has been fascinated ever since. Caitlin typically spends her free time reading, gardening, and walking her three dogs. 

Chance Ouellette is finishing his second year at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminology. He found out that he was interested in psychology in his junior year of high school when he took his first psychology class. After this, he loved to learn about the reason that people do things and the ways that he could help the people that are going through their problems. He isn’t sure what he wants to do as a job yet and is still exploring interests but knows that he sees a future in the psychology field. 

Ignacio Sandoval is a student who is finishing his third year at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. His major is Business and Management. A couple of years ago, he was working promoting a clothing brand that he created with two of his friends, which made him realize that he enjoyed working as a team and growing a brand. Ignacio, in the future, plans to promote certain products internationally, making them known in as many countries as possible. In his free time, Ignacio likes to play soccer and spend time with his friends. He is also part of the UNCW tennis team.

Jasmin Singh is currently in her second semester at UNCW where she is planning on majoring in digital arts. Although she is not sure which career she would like in this field, she does know that she wants to do a double concentration in website and app development and special effects. Jasmin has been creating art all her life in various analog media and would like to experiment with digital media. In high school, she enjoyed taking advanced art classes and frequently practiced improving her drawing skills. In the future, she hopes to explore her creativity while helping people through art and design.

Emily Stout is in her first year at the University of North Carolina- Wilmington. Emily plans on getting her bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, which will help her move up to graduate school to become a marine veterinarian. After volunteering at sea turtle nests every summer since moving to North Carolina, Emily became fascinated with sea turtles and endangered aquatic species. She hopes to work at a sea turtle hospital in the future, focusing on rescuing sick/injured sea turtles and helping them recover. Pursuing a job in STEM is not an easy task, but with Emily’s determination, hard work ethic, and passion for marine life, she will be successful in her selected career field. Outside the field of biology, Emily enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family.

James Thelen is a first-year student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and is planning to major and pursue a career in music technology. From an early age, he has been inclined to music; he learned to play the violin at the age of eight and currently has been producing his own music electronically for the past four years, starting in the middle of his first year of high school. His first job was at a local diner where he was a fountain worker and a busser. Juggling high school, his job, and his music-making hobby helped him realize that working hard can be enjoyable and that committing time and practice to anything will only result in improvement. James also likes to spend time hanging out with friends and cooking. 

Tyler Vammino is a Sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Tyler is working towards getting his Bachelor’s degree in business marketing. Tyler is also considering minoring in psychology. He became interested in psychology after taking a psychology class freshman year of college and thought it was really interesting to learn how the brain works. Tyler is a caring person that is always there for the people in his life and wants to see himself and others become successful. Tyler also enjoys to participate in outdoor activities with friends and spend time with family.

Lixsiana Velazquez is a first year student at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington. Her intended major is nursing and is still indecisive on whether she wants to minor in something else. She has always been wanting to become a nurse since she was introduced to a class her freshman year of high school. She was able to gain her CNA license her senior year of high school and cannot wait to further learn and pursue her nursing career. 

Rainey Wallen is a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in the Honors College. Her majors are International Studies and Spanish. During the winter of her freshman year, she took advantage of the opportunity to study abroad in Spain for a week with her history class. She plans on teaching English in foreign countries with her academic disciplines and when she is not in the classroom, she is working as a lifeguard and lifeguard instructor at the Student Recreation Center on Campus or thinking about modern issues facing women with the Feminist Alliance.
